The Future

Magnificent wind turbines protract out of the ground
An awkward alien graveyard of missing parts
Jolt out of farmed earth stripped of worth
Before we’ve begun the local appreciation society.
Colossal blades carve through a heavy atmosphere and
Turn the wasteland into waves
Sharpened by the digital sun

Dark dreams of a past held on by the electric power plant
Dulled by the static

Parked at the intersection of disconnected pathways
Puzzles of the pieces feel uneasy
Where weeds push through landscaped trottoirs
Where trees force their way and fight to assert their place
On pavements laid to deaden nature
And create the way for the future.
